[Interview] UFC Fighter Roy Nelson – Quick as a knockout

For those who read me, I’m not really a journalist. I’m a fan who love to speak about MMA and UFC. Recently I had the opportunity to make some interviews, with the liberty to choose who I want. I’m not looking to be in touch with the last breaking news, but with the crush.

Today, I propose to Roy Nelson (UFC Heavyweight Fighter #11) to answer to my questions.

8 questions. 8 quickly answers. Fast as a knockout.

I am curious to know the story behind the nickname “Big Country”. Can you give us some explanations?

Basically everybody thought I was a great wrestler so I had to be from Oklahoma or Iowa. The more I fought it, the more it stuck.

For your record, you have 20 wins including 13 by knockout. What is your preparation before every fight?

Preparation before every fight is just to go out a be a better fighter than I was last time.

You have been finalist and winner of the tenth season of The Ultimate Fighter with a big final against Brandon Schaub. What was, since your coming to the UFC, your toughest fight ?

My toughest opponent as always been myself and getting past my own inner demons.

What is the KO you are most proud of ?

The KO I am probably most proud of is the one that knocked out Brendan Schuab to win The Ultimate Fighter.

At the time of writing Cain Velasquez will face Fabricio Werdum for the title. You have already faced Werdum in 2012. In your opinion, can he defeat Velasquez ?

Of course Werdum can defeat Velasquez, He has a better ground game that everybody is scared of.

The UFC has recently restructured his Hall of Fame. If you had the possibility of including a fighter or a fight, who would put you and why ?

Probably the best Hall of Fame fight would be GSP vs Jake Shields that sold over 50 thousand tickets the largest gate and attendance in UFC history.

You will fight Josh Barnett during UFC Fight Night 78 in Japan. Have you already started your preparation ?

No I have not starting preparing for my fight against Josh. I have been in the process of filming UFC’s Road to japan with Josh leading up to the fight.

I like to give the last word to the people I interviewed.

I appreciate all the support my fan give me all of the time. If you would like to stay updated on what I am up to go to my website RoyNelson.com and Twitter and Facebook

I would like to thank you Roy Nelson for the time he take to answer of my questions and Jess Evans, the nicest messenger.
