OMGWTF Release Date
I feel bad for not calling. I really do. I hope this doesn’t, you know, make things awkward between us.
But srsly folks, it’s been a busy last couple of months. I’m talking real-life busy, not “oh my god I’ve worked so much on Sweetcron it is now self-aware” busy, unfortunately. It seemed to be one of those periods where it was just one thing after another. Anyway. I didn’t mail you all to bore you bits about my private life. I mailed you to tell you about teh cronz.
Initially I said a June release. Unless you’re assuming I meant June 2009 there’s probably a bunch of you wondering where the frick Sweetcron is. Well, the bad news is I’m still making some tweaks. The good news is I know for sure when I’m launching – 28th August 2008. Or, 28.8.8. Just 20 more days.
Whilst I have your attention, I’d like to clear a couple of things up. There seems to be a little confusion on teh internets about what Sweetcron actually…is. No, it’s not a WordPress plugin, no it’s not just a feed aggregator, no, it’s not some kind of multi-pane, ajax-enabled task manager. It is a self-contained platform for hosting your own lifestreaming “blog” on your own webhost, like the one you see at my site, http://www.yongfook.com.
Lifestreaming is, I feel, the future of blogging (and ReadWriteWeb agrees…). Our digital lives are becoming increasingly more fragmented as we spread what precious little time we have spare across more and more web services – we need a way of pulling that all together automatically, displaying it intuitively and in a way that encourages interaction. That’s what a lifestream should do, and that’s what you’ll be able to do on your own site on 28.8.8.
